The TRX850 was Yamaha's factory cafe-style sports twin, using a reworked TDM850 engine with a 270-degree crank in a steel trellis frame, wrapped in a half fairing with clip-on bars. It was lighter, lower and sportier than the TDM and prized for its torquey, characterful delivery. High pricing hurt sales, so it was short-lived but gained a cult following.
